The Colorado SUP Championships, also known as, Fibark has had to made some adjustments to the schedule due to the higher water levels. Here are the latest updates for the event.

The downriver race has been moved to the Stone Bridge to Salida stretch. This section is still 10 miles. A team of us ran it yesterday, the river is wide and lots of fun. There are some strainers on this stretch, but the river being as wide as it is, it’s very easy to avoid them. Safety will be set throughout the run. There is a low-head dam on this section, but don’t worry, there are plenty of signs warning you ahead of time of the approaching dam and directing you to the boat shoot on river left. We will be suspending the no knee paddling rule for the boat chute, no need to hero through that swirly water. Right above the whitewater park, close to the finish, there is a a low hanging tree with branches in the river so just be aware of it as you are pushing through that home stretch. It’s a really fun stretch of river with fun waves and lots of choices for fast lines. Go out there, have fun, and be safe!
