Welcome Yacu and Yuka to the Badfish Family
Badfish is very honored to announce two new team paddlers, Yacu Takahata and Yuka Sato. These dynamic athletes are arguably two of the most passionate, talented, and kind people on the scene. They are especially dedicated to developing the whitewater and river surfing communities in their home country, Japan. Together, they are sharing their knowledge and passion through regular downriver and river surfing clinics as well as gatherings. We are very lucky to have them part of the Badfish family.
Yacu – @yacustyle
Yacu Takahata draws on years of experience as an athlete and coach in the disciplines of raft, outrigger, kayak, surf, ski, adventure race, and SUP. He has been close to the Badfish brand for many years, and regularly travels to the mountain west to take advantage of spring flows and connect with local paddlers. Yacu is driven to use whitewater SUP and river surfing as a vehicle for expression connection with nature.
Yuka – @yu_ka.17
Yuka Sato broke into the top of the international SUP racing tour in 2018, and has proven herself as a world-class paddler. Her tenacity on the race course and consistent positive attitude has led her to be dubbed as the “smiling assassin”. While at home in Tokyo, she uses whitewater to train for race events, and it has clearly provided her a competitive edge. Yuka stands a bridge between the highly-competitive world of SUP racing, and the highly expressive world of whitewater and river surfing. She excels at all of the above. Look for her at the GoPro Games and other Colorado whitewater events this season.
